University of Science and Culture

Academic Center for Education, Culture, and Research is one of the cultural and research organizations of Iran, which has been vested with certain tasks in the field of scientific research and cultural activities. The University of Science and Culture operates under the supervision of this center and is responsible for training specialized manpower forces needed to achieve its goals.

History and Educational Activities of the University of Science and Culture

A non-profit educational institution affiliated with the Academic Center for Education, Culture, and Research was established in 1993, which was, after a few years and as a result of the expansion of its educational and research activities, upgraded to a university.

Presently (2023), about 9000 students pursue their higher education in 91 academic fields (six fields at the doctoral level, 53 fields at the master’s level, and 32 fields at the bachelor’s level) in six faculties of "Law", "Technology and Engineering", "Art and Architecture", "Humanities", "Tourism Sciences" and "New Biological Sciences and Technologies" under the supervision of more than 800 university teachers and lecturers, 120 of whom are full-time faculty members of this university.

Achieving the top ranks in International Scientific Olympiads by the students of this university is a sign of the high level of its educational and scientific activities. After being admitted, the students of this university can benefit from the educational and research facilities available at the National Park of Science and Soft Technologies and Cultural Industries, the Business Development Foundation, and the Institute for the Sustainable Development of Science and Culture Tourism. Attending these centers makes the ideas developed by students move towards implementation at a suitable speed.

Research and Entrepreneurial Activities of the University of Science and Culture

The affiliation of 21 research institutes and six scientific centers with the Academic Center for Education, Culture, and Research has provided the University of Science and Culture with special research opportunities such that the close relationship with these centers can be considered a special advantage for this university. The direct cooperation of this university with these centers is one of the factors contributing to the improvement of the quality of its educational standards.

With the establishment of the "National Park of Soft Sciences and Technologies and Cultural Industries", the University of Science and Culture is the owner of Iran's only specialized park in the field of culture, art, and handicrafts. Art design, fashion and clothing, handicrafts, and tourism are the subjects that are researched in this specialized park. The Institute of "Sustainable Tourism Development" is also active in this field as the first non-governmental academic organization.

The university’s “Business Development Foundation” has been established to create a platform and infrastructure for entrepreneurship. By forming work and idea generation centers in which university teachers and students participate, this foundation facilitates the process of transforming them into creative companies and eventually introduces these companies to the National Park of Soft Sciences and Technology and Cultural Industries. A center with the title "Specialized Training" operates under the supervision of this foundation and is responsible for supporting the students in their entrepreneurial activities, improving their skills, and creating employment.

International Activities of the University of Science and Culture

University of Science and Culture has managed to be recognized as one of the innovative universities of Iran. In 2022, the title of Innovative University of Iran was assigned to this university for the third year in a row.

University of Science and Culture has extensive interactions with scientific and research centers in different countries. These interactions have led to the holding of joint educational courses and various scientific meetings. UPM and USM universities of Malaysia, WARVIK and SHEFFIELD universities of England, MALARDALEN university of Sweden, IMC and MODUL universities of Austria, EUA University of Armenia, and UCW University of Canada are among the centers that have concluded memorandums of understanding with the University of Science and Technology and engage in scientific interactions with it. Based on these MoUs, it is possible to provide scholarships to outstanding students of the University of Science and Culture.

93 non-Iranian students were pursuing their higher education in the international college of this university at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels in the year 2023. The education activities of this college are in English in the form of short-term and long-term training courses. According to the officials of this university, arrangements are being made to increase the capacity of accepting non-Iranian students in the University of Science and Culture in the coming years.
